Zoom & visual effects
Two small features that change how you see your storyboard: the zoom slider and the visual effects menu. Both work in any view.
How do I zoom in or out?
- Drag the zoom slider in the editor header.
- Or use the keyboard:
- = — zoom in
- - — zoom out
Thumbnails scale smoothly from a dense overview to a near-poster size.
Why would I change the zoom level?
- Low zoom — fastest way to scan a long video for patterns or rhythm.
- Medium zoom — best for note-taking.
- High zoom — best for inspecting cinematography, framing, composition.
What are the visual effects?
Open the effects menu in the editor header (the icon next to the view switcher). You'll see toggles for:
- Black & White — strips color from every thumbnail.
- Boost Contrast — increases contrast.
Both are non-destructive — they only change how thumbnails are displayed. Your originals stay untouched.
When should I use Black & White?
- To study composition and value without color as a distraction.
- To analyze lighting design — shadows, highlights, contrast ratios.
- To replicate the perspective of a cinematographer working in B&W.
When should I use Boost Contrast?
- On low-contrast footage where shapes and silhouettes get lost in the storyboard at small thumbnail sizes.
- For accessibility — to make thumbnails easier to read at a glance.
Do visual effects carry into exports?
Yes. PDF and image exports respect the current effects, so you can produce a B&W storyboard or a high-contrast print directly from the editor.
Do visual effects carry into share links?
No — share links always render in full color, regardless of your local effects. Viewers can toggle their own preferences on the published page.
