Update payment method

If your card is expiring, was lost or stolen, or you want to switch to a different card, you can update your payment method any time.

How do I update my card?

  1. Sign in at storyfolder.com/account.
  2. Open Subscription.
  3. Click Manage billing (or Update payment method).
  4. You'll be redirected to the Stripe billing portal — that's where payment details are stored.
  5. Click Add payment method, enter your new card, and save.
  6. Click Set as default on the new card.
  7. (Optional) Delete the old card if you no longer want it on file.

The next billing cycle will charge the new card.

What payment methods are accepted?

Through Stripe, StoryFolder accepts:

  • Major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover).
  • Debit cards.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay (in supported browsers).
  • Some regional payment methods (SEPA in Europe, iDEAL in the Netherlands, etc.).

The exact list depends on your country.

What happens if my card is declined?

Stripe will retry the charge a few times over the following days. While the charge is failing:

  • You'll get an email asking you to update the card.
  • Your account is marked as past-due but you retain access for a short grace period.
  • After repeated failures, your subscription will be paused or cancelled.

To recover, just update the card from Manage billing and the next retry will succeed.

Can I add a backup card?

Yes — Stripe lets you store multiple cards. Only the default card is charged for renewals, but having a backup means a smoother recovery if the primary card declines.

Do you store my card number?

No. Card numbers are held by Stripe — a PCI-compliant payment processor. StoryFolder only stores a token, the last four digits, and the card brand. We never see or store the full card number, expiration, or CVV.

How do I remove all payment methods?

If you want to clear all stored cards, first cancel your subscription, then delete the cards from the billing portal. You can re-add a card any time to re-subscribe.
