Print directly
If you're heading to a meeting and want a paper copy of your storyboard, you don't need to generate a PDF first. StoryFolder can send the storyboard (or just the script) directly to your printer.
How do I print a storyboard?
- Open the editor for the project you want to print.
- Choose what should be on the page — toggle field visibility and visual effects to match what you want printed.
- Press Cmd+P (Mac) or Ctrl+P (Windows).
- StoryFolder opens a print preview formatted for 8.5" × 11" paper.
- Pick your printer and click Print.
If you'd rather have a file, pick Save as PDF in the print dialog — or use the PDF export for the same result.
How do I print just the script?
If your project has a transcript:
- Open the workflow menu and choose Print Script.
- StoryFolder opens a print preview of just the spoken dialogue.
- Pick your printer and click Print.
What does the printed page look like?
- Storyboard print — two columns of shots per page with thumbnail, timecode, duration, and any visible notes.
- Script print — single-column dialogue with timecodes.
Will my visual effects (B&W, contrast) apply?
Yes — your editor's current settings are reflected in the print preview.
Can I control how many shots per page?
Page layout is fixed at the moment. If you need finer control, export to PDF and edit the PDF in your favorite tool.
What about my favorites and filters?
- Hidden shots are excluded.
- An active search query narrows the print to matching shots.
- Favorites are not auto-filtered. Turn on the favorites toggle if you want only favorites.
Tip: a cleaner printed page
For a tidier printed storyboard:
- Hide note fields you don't need on the page.
- Turn on Black & White to save ink.
- Use the editor's zoom to set thumbnails to medium before printing.
