Upgrade or downgrade
You can switch plans whenever you want. Upgrades give you immediate access to the new features. Downgrades take effect at the end of your billing period.
How do I change my plan?
- Sign in at storyfolder.com/account.
- Click Subscription in the sidebar.
- Click Change plan.
- Pick the new plan. You'll see a preview of any prorated charge.
- Click Confirm.
The change is immediate. Your card is charged for the prorated difference if it's an upgrade.
What happens to my data when I upgrade?
Nothing changes about your shot lists, notes, or projects. Upgrading just unlocks more features. New capabilities (like custom fields or video clip export) become available right away.
What happens to my data when I downgrade?
This depends on what you're going down to:
- Pro → Basic — your custom fields and their values remain in your projects, but you can't add new custom fields or use Pro-only exports. If you're over the new board or shots-per-board limit, you'll see a notice; existing projects stay viewable but you may not be able to publish more shots until you're within limits.
- Basic → Free — similar story: existing projects remain accessible, but you'll bump up against tighter limits when you add new ones.
- Business → Pro — you lose the extra machine slots. You'll be asked which machine to deactivate.
We don't delete your data
Downgrading never deletes your projects, notes, or share links. Pro features just become unavailable until you upgrade again.
When does a downgrade actually take effect?
Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period (the date you last paid through). You keep your current features until then.
Can I change billing intervals while I change plan?
Yes. You can switch from monthly to yearly (and vice-versa) when picking a new plan. See Monthly vs yearly for the implications.
Will I get a credit for downgrading mid-cycle?
We don't issue cash refunds for mid-cycle downgrades, but the change takes effect at the end of the paid period, so you get full value from what you've already paid.
Will I be billed immediately on an upgrade?
Yes — Stripe issues a prorated charge based on how much of the current period remains.
Will my saved card be used?
Yes. We use the payment method already on file. If you'd like to change it, see Update payment method.
