Export options overview

When you're ready to take your storyboard out of StoryFolder, head to the Export view. From here you can produce PDFs, image sets, spreadsheets, video clips, and even scripts — alone or all together.

How do I open the export view?

  • Press X on your keyboard, or
  • Click the workflow switcher in the top-left and pick Export.

You can return to the editor any time with S.

What export formats are available?

FormatWhat it isPlan
PDF storyboardMulti-page PDF with thumbnails, timecodes, and notes. All plans
ImagesIndividual JPG/PNG files for each shot. All plans
Shot list spreadsheetCSV/Excel of shot timecodes, durations, and metadata.Pro
Video clipsIndividual video clips for each shot.Pro
Scripts & subtitlesPlain script and SRT subtitle files (when transcripts are available).Pro

You can pick one or several at the same time — each format you enable is added to the export job.

How do I run an export?

  1. Switch to the Export view.
  2. Choose a destination folder at the top.
  3. Toggle on the formats you want.
  4. For Clips, pick the speed mode (transcode or trim).
  5. Click Add to Queue.
  6. Watch the progress in the queue panel.
  7. When jobs finish, click Show in Finder / Show in File Explorer to find them.

Can I queue multiple exports?

Yes. You can queue more than one export job. They run sequentially. You can:

  • Pause / resume the queue.
  • Cancel an in-progress job.
  • Delete completed jobs from the list.

Does the export respect my filters and selection?

Yes. Exports include whatever shots are currently visible in the editor — meaning:

  • Hidden shots are excluded.
  • An active search query narrows the export.
  • Favorites are not auto-filtered (use the favorites toggle if you want only favorites).
  • Visual effects (B&W, contrast) are applied to image and PDF exports.

This makes filtering before export a powerful way to control what ends up in the file.

Where do exports get saved?

To whatever destination folder you've picked. That folder is remembered between sessions for convenience.

Can I export part of a video?

Yes — narrow your storyboard with search, favorites, or by hiding shots, then run the export. Only the visible shots are included.

What if I run out of disk space mid-export?

The job fails with a disk-space error. Free space and click Retry in the job's row. Already-exported files in the destination folder remain.
