Cancel or pause
If you need to take a break from StoryFolder, you have two options: pause (paused for up to 3 months, then auto-resumes) or cancel (stops at the end of the paid period and won't auto-renew).
How do I cancel my subscription?
- Sign in at storyfolder.com/account.
- Click Subscription in the sidebar.
- Scroll down and click Cancel subscription.
- Confirm.
Your subscription is set to cancel at the end of the current billing period. You keep full access until then — no immediate downgrade.
What happens after cancellation?
When your paid period ends:
- Your account drops down to the Free plan automatically.
- Pro features (custom fields, advanced exports, charts) become read-only or hidden.
- Your projects, notes, and share links stay intact — nothing is deleted.
- Published storyboards remain published.
You can re-subscribe at any time and pick right back up where you left off.
How do I pause instead of cancelling?
If you'll be back in a few weeks or months:
- From the Subscription page, click Pause subscription.
- Confirm.
The subscription is paused for up to 3 months. We don't bill you during the pause. After the pause window, the subscription resumes automatically — or you can resume it earlier.
Pausing keeps your account in a "paid" state, so all your features remain available to view, but you may not be able to add new content depending on the paused plan limits. (Practical heads-up: pausing is meant for short breaks, not as a long-term Free downgrade.)
How do I resume a paused subscription?
Go to Subscription on your account page and click Resume. Billing picks back up immediately and you regain full access.
What if I change my mind after I cancel?
If the cancellation hasn't taken effect yet (i.e. your paid period hasn't ended), you can reactivate from your account page:
- Open Subscription.
- Click Reactivate subscription.
Your subscription returns to normal — same plan, same renewal date, no new charge.
If your paid period already ended, just sign up again with your same email and you'll pick right up where you left off (sans Pro features until you re-subscribe).
Will I get a refund for cancelling mid-cycle?
We don't issue cash refunds for unused subscription time. Instead, you keep full access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
If you have a special situation (accidentally renewed, billing error), contact support — we're reasonable.
Will my published storyboards stay live?
Yes. Published share links remain accessible even on the Free plan. Re-publishing works on Free too. Password-protected sharing reverts to public/link-only.
