The editor at a glance

The editor is where you'll spend most of your time. It's organized into three resizable columns plus a header. Once you know the layout, everything else clicks into place.

What does the editor look like?

  • Left column — video player, shot tools, AI sensitivity slider.
  • Center — the storyboard itself in whichever view you've chosen.
  • Right column — notes and custom data fields for the selected shot(s).
  • Header — filters, view switcher, visual effects, favorites toggle, hidden toggle, zoom, and share.

You can drag the column edges to resize them.

What can I do from the left column?

  • Watch the video. A live player tracks the currently selected shot. Hover to reveal controls; press Space to play / pause.
  • Pick a tool.
    • DDefault (select).
    • CSplit (cut a shot at a frame).
    • JMerge (join consecutive shots).
    • FFrame Selector (choose a thumbnail).
  • Adjust AI shot detection sensitivity with the vertical slider.

See Splitting & merging shots and AI shot detection sensitivity.

What's in the center?

Your storyboard. You can show it in three ways:

  • BStoryboard view. Big shots with notes alongside.
  • LList view. Compact horizontal rows.
  • TThumbnail grid. A dense overview.

See Storyboard, list & grid views.

What can I do from the right column?

The right column is your notes & data panel.

  • Favorite the selected shot with the heart icon. (Favorites)
  • Hide the selected shot with the eye icon.
  • Fill in any of your active note fields — text, dropdown, tag, or checkbox.
  • Click Configure notes & data to open Preferences and add or remove fields.

See Adding notes.

What's in the header?

  • Search bar. Filters shots whose notes match your query.
  • View switcher. Storyboard / list / grid.
  • Notes & data field selector. Toggle which fields are visible right now.
  • Visual effects menu. Black & white, boost contrast.
  • ♥ Favorites toggle. Show only favorited shots.
  • 👁 Hidden toggle. Show or hide shots you've hidden.
  • Zoom slider. Resize thumbnails.
  • Share link button. Publish a sharable link.

How do I move between workflows?

Use the workflow switcher in the top-left, or jump with the keyboard:

  • SEdit (you're here).
  • AAnalyze.
  • XExport.
