Sign-in link (passwordless)
If you don't want to remember a password, StoryFolder can email you a one-time link that signs you in directly. It's the easiest way to log in on a new device.
How do I request a sign-in link?
- Go to storyfolder.com/signin.
- Click Email me a sign-in link.
- Enter the email address on your StoryFolder account.
- Click Send.
- Check your inbox for an email from StoryFolder.
- Click the link inside. It will sign you in instantly.
How long is the link valid?
One hour. After that, you'll need to request a new one.
Can I use a sign-in link to activate the desktop app?
Yes. Click Connect your account in the desktop app, request a sign-in link in the browser, click the link in your email, and the desktop app will activate automatically.
I didn't get the email — what now?
A few common reasons:
- Wrong email. Make sure you typed the address that's on your StoryFolder account.
- Spam folder. Search for storyfolder in your spam or promotions folder.
- Corporate email filter. Some workplace email servers delay or block automated messages. Try again from a personal address.
- Slow delivery. Most emails arrive in under 30 seconds. Occasionally they take a couple of minutes.
If you still don't see it after a few minutes, contact support.
Can I use the same link twice?
No — sign-in links are one-time. Once you click the link, it's marked used. Request a new one any time.
Is this secure?
Yes. Sign-in links are:
- Sent only to the email address on your account.
- Single-use — they're invalidated the moment they're consumed.
- Time-limited — they expire after one hour.
- Bound to your account — anyone clicking the link signs in as you, so keep your inbox secure.
For added safety, treat sign-in links like temporary passwords. Don't forward them.
Can I disable sign-in links?
There's no toggle to disable them today. As long as someone has your email's inbox access, they can request a sign-in link. Use a strong inbox password and two-factor authentication on your email account.
