If you'd rather not use a password, try a sign-in link.

The desktop app uses your browser to authenticate so your password is never typed into a native window.
- Open StoryFolder. You'll see the Sign In screen.
- Click Connect your account.
- The browser opens to
storyfolder.com/auth-app. - Sign in with email/password or a sign-in link.
- The browser hands control back to the desktop app, which activates automatically.
Full walkthrough: Connect your account.
How do I sign out of the web?
Click your avatar in the top-right of the marketing site and pick Sign Out. You'll be returned to the homepage.
How do I sign out of the desktop app?
- Open Preferences (Cmd+, / Ctrl+,).
- Switch to the Account pane.
- Click Deactivate Machine. The app returns to its Sign In screen.
This frees up your machine slot. You can sign back in at any time on the same computer or a different one.
How long does a session stay signed in?
- Web sessions persist until you sign out or clear cookies.
- Desktop activations persist indefinitely until you deactivate the machine or the activation expires (which happens 7 days after subscription end, on canceled accounts).
What if I forget my password?
See Reset your password, or use a sign-in link to log in without one.
What if my browser keeps signing me out?
Check that your browser allows cookies for storyfolder.com. Private/incognito tabs commonly drop sessions when closed. Switch to a regular window if you'd like persistent login.
Can I sign in on multiple devices?
Yes. The web session is independent of the desktop activation, so you can have both up simultaneously. Desktop activations are limited by your plan (1 or 3 machines) — see Activated machines.
