Searching & exporting a transcript
Once a video is transcribed, the words are searchable in two different places, and they come out of StoryFolder in five formats.
How do I search inside a transcript?
Open the Transcript tab (R) and type into the Search transcript box.
- / focuses the box.
- Cmd+F (Ctrl+F on Windows) also focuses it, including from inside another field.
- Enter walks to the next match. So do Cmd+G and the ‹ › buttons beside the box; add Shift to go backwards.
- Esc clears the query.
The box shows the number of results and your position in them, and it lands on the best match rather than the first one in time. It tolerates a word the recogniser split or misheard — when a hit isn't literal it's marked approximate, and hovering tells you what the transcript actually says.
This search doesn't look at speaker names. To find a speaker, use the speakers popover.
How is that different from library search?
The transcript box searches one transcript and forgives spelling. Library search searches everything — titles, your shot and video fields, and transcript text — and is plain substring matching. Results there tell you which layer they matched on, so a video that came back because somebody said a word on camera looks different from one that came back because you tagged it.
Can I copy the transcript out?
Yes. Copy transcript in the toolbar copies everything currently visible, in the view mode you're in and honouring your Display toggles. Switch to Plain text first if you want prose with no speaker names or timestamps.
What can I export?
In the Export tab (X), turn on Transcript & Subtitles. Five formats are produced, and you choose which:

The CSV is the one worth knowing about: its columns are start, end, shot, speaker and text, so the file already knows which picture each line belongs to and pairs with the shot list spreadsheet.
Speaker names are written into the output once there's more than one speaker. Timestamps, speaker labels, grouping and line width are all options on the export.
Transcript and subtitle exports are free. The gated export is the Spreadsheet / Shot List.
The per-shot transcript also prints in the PDF storyboard, in full.
