Folders
Folders are where videos live. Each video sits in one folder or in none, folders nest inside folders, and opening one shows everything underneath it.
Where are folders?
In the library rail, under All items. All items is the library root: it shows your folders plus the videos you haven't filed anywhere.
How do I create and fill a folder?
- In the library rail, create a new folder.
- Drag a video onto it, or use the video's right-click menu to move it.
- Drag a folder onto another folder to nest it.
Double-click a folder's name in the rail to rename it in place. Right-click for the rest of the actions.
Does moving a video into a folder move the file?
No. Folders are StoryFolder's own filing, not your disk's. Moving a project between folders doesn't touch the video file, and StoryFolder doesn't track or manage where your originals live.
Does opening a folder include its subfolders?
Yes. A folder shows and searches that folder plus everything underneath it, not just its direct children.
That's the difference between the two scopes worth knowing: searching from All items covers your whole library including filed videos, and opening a folder narrows the same search to that folder's subtree. See Search.
Can I link to a folder?
Yes. Every folder has its own address inside the app, so a link you keep will take you back to it.
What else is in the rail?
- Collections — hand-picked shots from across different videos.
- Quick filters — saved searches.
- Shares — the storyboards you've published.
- Trash — deleted projects.
